Best of LA 2024 Winners - Where to SHOP
CAPSULE PARFUMERIE, the iconic Chinatown business from husband-and-wife team Mike and Linda Sivrican, has relocated to the Fairfax District. The space still offers an alluring array of sensory creations from eight bespoke fragrance lines, with bestsellers such as Isola Rosa and Coyote Mint. Hands-on scent-making classes on-site are great team-building experiences and the DIY perfume kits make fantastic gifts. Best new service: a dedicated scent atelier for tailor-made perfumes.

The 15 Best Fall Perfumes, According to Editor Testing
"This gorgeous scent wafted off a chic colleague recently, and I had to ask her what she was wearing. Turns out, she gets that question weekly. Her fragrance, Isola Rosa, is a green floral meant to emulate the Italian seaside. That might not scream fall to you, but its base note—the part that stays on the skin longest—is a warm musk and other notes smell of crisp wind, like the coast in the off-season," says Oprah Daily's beauty director Kate Sandoval Box. It also contains white peony, jasmine, and fresh bergamot. Gorgeous.

Colognes that Channel the Spirit of the West
In 2016, the Los Angeles perfumer Linda Sivrican launched Saguara Perfumes. After spending ample time in Joshua Tree National Park, the brand’s Coyote Mint — a cleansing vegan, phthalate and paraben-free scent — mixes a cooling blend of desert herbs with hints of fresh mint and a warm waft of smoke. Smoky palo santo, a sacred centuries-old wood known for it’s healing properties is thought to ward off unwanted energy and uplift the spirit.

How to Make Your Own Perfume (Even If You’re Not a Professional Nose)
Each accord can be worn on its own, but you’re meant to combine them into a more complex scent that’s unique to you. I was impressed by the range, which spans the four fragrance families — woody, floral, amber, and fresh — that make up the foundation of all scents in the perfume world.

Its Legion scent is inspired by the hidden speakeasies of the city’s downtown. “The fragrance is deliciously dark and boozy, a kind of liqueur laced with sweet aromatic notes of anise, whisky, resins and leather,” said Linda Sivrican, lead perfumer and founder of Capsule Parfumerie.
